the ability to trade and to combine all kinds of disparate items to make all kinds of unique builds in d2 was what made it special to a lot of players. The other mode of play, to design new builds and to trade for items in order to put all the pieces necessary to perfect the build, that is no longer available to the average player in diablo 3 anymore. in fact, this is the main mode of play in d3 after this patch. That was available in diablo2, this is available in diablo 3. some players for example enjoy the challenge of going through the game on their own legs - in diablo2 there were unofficial ironman leagues and other game modes where they could, however artificially, increase the difficulty of the game. Of course different players have different goals. Some people take it too far and bot every aspect of a game and at that point you have no reason to play anymore. Now you want a new type of character to try out so you bot the stats up to where you want them then play the part of the game you still actually enjoy, PVP.Īgain, that last bit doesn't apply to D3 but you seemed a bit curious about botting itself. Now lets say the game you are playing is pretty old and you have put way more hours than you care to acknowledge into building up previous characters(thousands possibly.) You know every nook and cranny in the game and you just cannot stand to level up manually for the 50th time. However in this game the grind is the whole game.Ī great example of a reason to bot in a game is if the only thing you enjoy is PVP but it takes a long time to get your perfect stats or even serviceable stats. Generally the reason you would bot in any game is to skip the annoying grind and get to the fun stuff. Like you said before when there was profit in it I could see someones reasoning but not now. There is really no point in botting in Diablo 3 now. Last updated at 14:00:17 UTC Weekly Help Desk RAGE Loot Thread Trade Thread
